It’s X Factor time so here is your Cash Drop Casino Guide to how to back a winner in this popular ITV talent show…
X Factor Betting Preview:
The Do’s and Do Not’s
-
- Do not place any bets on the event while the TV channel is showing pre-recorded coverage from the audition stages or boot camps with their mentors.
- Do get involved during the live televised stages and consider some of the more obscure markets such as ‘winning mentor’ as opposed to trying to simply identify the winner.
- Do not take too much notice of judge’s comments. They are extremely fickle and they do not make the all-important telephone calls/votes.
- Do not back a novelty act. One normally gets to the latter stages but never finishes in the top-three.
- Be wary of backing a ‘group’. There have been 13 series of X-Factor and so far only one group has been successful, the all-girl line-up ‘Little Mix’ in 2011.
- History shows male contestants have a significantly better overall record to female contestants. The record stands at 8-to-4 and Male acts have also achieved considerably more runner-up positions than any other category.
- With so much volatility do consider simply backing contestants with an eye on a future lay when they shorten in the market.
- Also consider backing an Irish or Finnish act (two countries who broadcast the X Factor live and unedited). While a winner has never come from either of these two countries they invariably have contestants who make it into the final stages so can be very good each-way material.
Simon Cowell’s One Direction finished 3rd in 2010 (7th series)
Beyond these pointers predicting an X Factor winner is very difficult. However, purely from a X Factor betting viewpoint, is the quest all about finding a winner? The answer is no.
Normally there are 20+ X Factor betting markets running concurrently on matters such as ‘Winning Mentor’, ‘Winning Category’, ‘Next Act Eliminated’ and ‘To Reach the Final Show’.
And these are where mistakes are so often made by the online sportsbooks. A contestant who has X Factor odds 250/1 to win the show can be priced-up at just even-money to be the next act eliminated.
True they cannot sing or perform but the public may enjoy the charisma they bring and essentially the judges, headed by Simon Cowell, make the final decision on who stays or goes on this show. He knows that controversy is good for viewing figures, and for that reason bad acts often stay in the competition a lot longer than they should.
These are they type of angles you should be factoring into your X Factor betting strategy.
If Gaz from Geordie Shore takes part I’m going to jump on him …in more ways that one!
If Gaz from Geordie Shore takes part in X Factor I’ll eat my proverbial Suzy! Then again, if he takes part in ‘I’m a Celebrity’ I’ll have my proverbial and shirt on him too
Yes, was reading about I’m a Celebrity so got myself confused. As for X Factor, there is one very clear fact: A louis Walsh act cannot possibly win!
Rak-Su have this won, Grace booked for third at best
