2018 Celebrity Big Brother Betting Preview
Alas there is no celebrity which hails from ‘Geordie Shore’ in Celebrity Big Brother 21, the popular reality TV show which got underway on Tuesday night.
MTV’s Geordie Shore has been a lucrative source of winners in reality shows in recent times.
Two things stood out during the opening Celebrity Big Brother show:
- All contestants were female and the contestants were far more mature than they have been in recent years.
- But the show, fronted by the ever-popular Emma Willis, has announced male contestants will enter the house in the coming days and weeks and the first of those is former footballer John Barnes.

The all women cast now safely installed in the Celeb BB House consists of:
-
Amanda Barrie
The 60’s pin-up who appeared in a number of Carry On films and played Alma Sedgewick in Coronation Street. -
Jess Impiazzi
First appeared on the The Only Way is Essex in 2012 and subsequently on Ex on the Beach. -
Maggie Oliver
A key figure in the Police’s Operation Span, an investigation into the Rochdale sex grooming scandal. She was a DC who persuaded vulnerable and reluctant girls to give evidence against their abusers. -
India Willoughby
Formerly known as Jonathan Willoughby and best known as an ITV News reporter, India underwent a sex change (to use an old-fashioned phrase) aged 50. -
Ashley James
Enjoyed a brief spell in the E4 reality series Made in Chelsea and has since been dabbling in some modelling and presenting. -
Ann Widdecombe
An MP for 13 years, Widdlecome has become something of a standing dish in reality type TV shows in recent times with appearances in ITV’s Sugar Free Farm and Strictly Come Dancing amongst others. -
Malika Haqq
Claim to fame: Appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians (as a friend of Kim, Kourteney and Rob) and various other reality TV shows Stateside. -
Rachel Johnson
Sister of Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and daughter of I’m a Celebrity star Stanley Johnson, an outspoken journalist and commentator.
Our Celebrity Big Brother Prediction…
Cashdrop’s 2018 Celebrity Big Brother bet selection is:
Rachel Johnson 12/1 with Bet Victor
Strike out 25/1 shot (at Unibet) Malika immediately – Americans have a dire record in the series (less than 1-in-40).
Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed she flashed a nipple on opening night and also bitched about a broken nail. Our favourite for the ‘first to leave’ accolade.
Ann Widdecombe comes up short on age grounds and during her political career she was renowned for her controversial opposition to the legality of abortion. That’s surely not a vote winner amongst CBB viewers.
You could have counted Ashley James Made in Chelsea appearances on one hand and she may be the least known contestant of all. Looking like she had taken a week to put her make-up on (and was in danger of melting) during the opening show, her 1970’s style white outfit (complete with bell-bottoms) made her standout …for the wrong reasons!
India Willoughby is not the first transgender contestant to have taken part in CBB. Kellie Maloney, formerly Frank Maloney, was a contender in 2014 but a lack of personality was her downfall. India is likely to suffer due to the same lack of charisma on all known evidence.
We do like Jess Impiazzi (like presenter Emma Willis has stunning eyes) who came across extremely well during the opening show and genuinely appeared apprehensive and overawed. Her appearance on MTV’s Ex on the Beach is a sure-fire vote winner and her chances cannot be underestimated.
Maggie Oliver is certainly interesting, she is certainly not a celebrity either! But the public might just opt for her in appreciation for the fine work she has done. If she can show she has a personality, she may well be a true contender. The Big Brother bookmakers certainly believe so and she has been installed as Betvictor’s 9/4 favourite.
That leaves two: Amanda Barrie, a fascinating contender given she has a great sense of humour and took the unusual step of coming out of the closet and marrying another woman – aged 79! Only her age deters us from making her a genuine Celebrity Big Brother betting proposition.
And on to our overwhelming fancy, RACHEL JOHNSON. There is every chance the mainstream newspaper journalist, novelist and Sky News regular will have way too much inelegance for her rivals and that asset nearly won the CBB prize for Katie Hopkins in 2015.
The last female reality TV game-show contestant with such ties to the UK leadership was Carol Thatcher and she won ‘I’m a Celebrity’. Let us not forget her father, Stanley Johnson, was very popular in the most recent series of I’m a Celebrity too. A member of the Liberal Democrat Party – leaving her brother’s Conservative Party in 2017 because of its support for Brexit – she is a truly fascinating Big Brother housemate.

Looking through this list of previous winners it is clear the first to have an emotional breakdown gives themselves an exceptional chance. Only Vanessa Feltz in series 1 has let this form down.
Look out for the meltdown
Apparently Amanda owns up to having a threesome tonight – can only improve her chances
The Aussie drag act for me – and that walk-in fail was no accident
